Floor Stripping & Waxing in North Carolina's Piedmont Region

Integra Building Maintenance provides floor stripping and waxing across North Carolina's Piedmont region — full strip-outs, recoats, and burnishing programs for VCT, terrazzo, sealed concrete, and other resilient commercial flooring.

Floor finish is the first thing a visitor's eye catches down a long hallway. Done right, it protects the tile underneath and holds its gloss between services; done wrong, it yellows, powders, and peels. This is detail work, and it is some of the most skilled work we do.

Our strip and wax process

A full refinish is a controlled, multi-step process — not simply a new coat applied over old finish. Every project follows the same written sequence:

  • Clear, sweep, and prep the area, with walk-off protection for adjacent spaces
  • Apply commercial stripper and machine-scrub the old finish down to bare tile
  • Hand-detail edges, corners, and baseboards where machines can't reach
  • Neutralize and rinse so new finish bonds instead of failing early
  • Apply multiple thin coats of commercial floor finish with full cure time between coats
  • Burnish to a uniform gloss once cured

Maintenance programs that stretch the next strip-out

A strip-out is the expensive part — the program is what protects it. We build traffic-based schedules that keep floors at gloss for a fraction of refinishing cost: regular burnishing to restore shine, periodic scrub-and-recoat to replace the wear layer without a full strip, and matting recommendations that stop grit at the door. Most facilities need a full strip only every year or two on this cadence.

Floors we service across the Piedmont

VCT in offices, schools, and houses of worship; terrazzo and sealed concrete in lobbies and industrial space; luxury vinyl that needs scrubbing and matte-safe care rather than wax. Work is scheduled overnight or over weekends, sectioned so your building keeps operating, and coordinated around medical facilities' patient hours.

Frequently asked questions

How often should floors be stripped and waxed?

It depends on traffic and the maintenance between refinishes. With a burnish and scrub-and-recoat program, most commercial floors need a full strip-out every 12–24 months; without one, high-traffic VCT can dull in a quarter.

How much downtime should we plan for?

Most jobs run overnight or over a weekend. We section large areas so corridors and entrances stay usable, and fresh finish needs several hours of cure before heavy traffic.

Do you handle post-construction floor work?

Yes — initial finish on new VCT, construction-dust cleanup, and first-coat sealing for concrete are common project requests.
